Unpaid admin is part of the cut
Messages, quotes and waiting for payment are hours. Log them for two weeks and fold them into your price.
Admin does not show on the invoice, but it shows on your week. Treating it as free time understates the kerf.
What to log
- Writing quotes and follow-ups.
- Scheduling, delivery and payment chasing.
- Small revisions that were not in the brief.
After two weeks, add those hours to the paid work hours when you calculate your real rate. Then either price them in or drop the jobs that create too much of them.
